Q:  Do you need to have a License to do Professional Makeup?

A: Although the State of California does not have a Specific Licensing Board for just Makeup Artists, it is the strong recommendation of Method Makeup Academy that if you choose to pursue Cosmetic Artistry as your career that you do eventually get your Cosmetology License or Esthetics License through the State Board of California.

Q:  If I need to go to a Cosmetology Program or an Esthetics Program to get my License why should I go to Method Makeup Academy?

A:  Cosmetology Classes and Esthetics Classes teach you what you need to know to pass the California State Board Licensing Exam.  That said their main focus is on Sanitation and Passing the State Board Test.  Because that is the primary focus of most of these programs, they do not go into as much in depth training on Cosmetic Artistry as would be needed to start your career as a Professional Makeup Artist.  Method Makeup Academy focuses specifically on Cosmetic Artistry as a profession, with a strong focus on Business Development, Building & Maintaining your Business and an Intro into Bridal and Photography Makeup.  Our goal at Method Makeup Academy is to prepare you to work in the real world with real clients and not simply pass the sanitation requirements of State Board.  Cosmetology and Esthetics Programs are designed to make sure you are capable of passing state requirements with the understanding that Hair Stylists, Estheticians, Nail Technicians and Makeup Artists will seek additional training once they have passed their State Board Exams to further enhance and expand their skills.
